Club Fundraising - President Elect
John Barrett
As a Service Club, the Rotary Club of
Charlottetown Royalty must raise funds in order to carry out it's
many community and international projects. 100% of the funds
that are raised from community fundraisers go directly to the
projects that the club conducts.
The primary fundraiser for the Rotary Club of Charlottetown Royalty is the Business Advertising Supplement:
In addition, there are
other fundraising projects that come under the jurisdiction of the Four Avenues of
Service
Pennies for Eyesight
Tinkle...tinkle....tinkle.
That's the sound of coins landing in the dish at the centre of the table when
"Pennies for eyesight" is called out at the end of our regular breakfast meeting.
Each week our club members donate loose change to our "Pennies Campaign", last year giving a total of $1,705.50. This money gets forwarded to Operation
Eyesight Universal, a Canadian charitable organization preventing blindness
around the world.
The money helps fund eye camps in underdeveloped parts of the world, with cataract operations
being performed by volunteer doctors who give up 1-2 weeks a year from their own practices
for this worthy cause
See the 'thank-you' letter from Operation Eyesight for last year's donation, and also see the report on the Siloam Eye Hospital that our funds helped to support.

The Vesey's Seeds Flower Bulb Sale
Vesey's Seeds is a Prince Edward Island seed distribution company
with international sales. Each October the company donates boxes
containing over 100 spring flower bulbs for Rotarians to buy or sell. All
proceeds from this project go to the Rotary
Foundation.
Thanks to Bev Simpson and John Barrett for this generous donation!
